Why we built this.

We started Easy Street Development because we watched too many Austin homeowners get handled badly. Big national “we buy houses” outfits would send a lowball number, tie the house up on a contract, then shop it around to real buyers for a finder’s fee. By the time the seller realized, it was too late to list and too late to walk.

We didn’t want to run that kind of company. So we don’t. We buy with our own money, we close on our own timeline, and we do the unpopular thing of telling sellers when they’d make more listing with an agent. Some weeks that means we walk away from deals. Why this exists.

Two stories that made us start this company.

A seller in East Austin signed with a “cash buyer” who offered $180,000 on a house worth $230,000. Fair enough — fast close, no repairs. Except six weeks later, the “buyer” still hadn’t closed. Turns out they were a wholesaler. They’d been shopping the contract to investors, couldn’t find one willing to pay their markup, and quietly walked away.
